Research Topics

Topic 1: My first topic that I will research and try to discuss is "Hype." What is hype? How did the hype begin in the first place? Also, how hype is beneficial and hazardous at the same time?

Topic 2: My second research topic will be about different maketing trends, such as: guerilla marketing, buzz marketing, viral marketing and etc. I want to investigate which marketing ploy would be most effective in certain situations and how other are more effectives than others.

Topic 3: My third topic will be about color symbolism, that is the use of color as a symbol throughout cultures and religions.
I want to explore the usage and imagery of different colors in different cultures. Various cultures see color differently. For example, black is often seen as the 'color' of death in Western culture. This is likely because when things die the rotting flesh will turn black, and it is also the color of wood after fire has completely consumed it. Black is also the 'color' of the unknown, since darkness hinders vision. The association of white with death in Eastern cultures could come from the white cloth used to enshoud corpses, for example Egyptian mummys, or the stark whiteness of bones and skeletons. Red is often a color representing violence, war, aggression, or passion; this is probably because red is the color of human blood.

The 2nd and 3rd topics are really speaking to me more so than the first. However, concerning the second topic, maybe you should think of delving more into an actual

Ack. . . I didn't get to finish my post before it got sent.

Pertaining to the second topic. . . maybe you should delve deeper into a specific, more defined area of marketing. Not so much the trends OF it, but rather the EFFECT(S) of a certain trend or trends that you may find interesting, or a trend's evolution. Maybe compare and reveal in an interesting light how trends have come and gone, or how some have developed beyond what they used to be - look into the actual evolution of a certain trend through time. That's just a thought.

Do more research into the color symbolism, and you would have something really neat and interesting, I think. You could also compare colors between cultures, like, for many societies today, black is seen as a bleek, evil, death-related color, but, say, for the ancient Mayans (and maybe other early Meso-American peoples), the color black was seen as life, and the color white was seen as relating to death (and white was worn to funerals, not contemporary black) - a complete turn around.

I think the third idea which seems to be he most developed is great, but I find it hard to imagine to how you will translate this successfully into animation. The first and second ideas could easily be combined into one strong idea. Think about focusing on agroup of people or an entity that is affected by hype or marketing trends and explore these avenues through their unique perspectives.
